Water Governance Institute

The Water Governance Institute (WGI) at the Asian School of Government is dedicated to advancing sustainable, inclusive, and resilient water management systems across Asia. We serve as a hub for research, policy development, capacity building, and multi-sectoral collaboration to address the complex challenges of water governance in the 21st century.

Our Mission
To empower leaders, institutions, and communities through knowledge, innovation, and partnerships that strengthen water governance practices and promote integrated water resource management.

What We Do

• Research & Policy Development: Conduct cutting-edge research to inform evidence-based water governance policies and practices.

• Capacity Building: Design and deliver training programs, workshops, and leadership courses for government officials, water utilities, civil society, and the private sector.

• Multi-Sectoral Collaboration: Facilitate partnerships among governments, academia, communities, and development organizations to co-create solutions for water-related challenges.

• Innovation & Technology: Promote the use of data-driven technologies and innovative approaches to improve water resource management and service delivery.

• Water Leadership and Governance Fellowship: Equipping emerging leaders with the skills to drive water governance reforms.

• Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) Training Series: Specialized courses on IWRM principles, climate adaptation, and risk management.

• Water Policy Lab: A dynamic platform for stakeholders to experiment with policy innovations and share best practices.

• Climate Action Lab: A hub for climate-related water governance innovations.

• Community-Based Water Governance Initiatives: Supporting grassroots efforts to enhance local water governance and resilience.
